How is a local range calculated?

This applies only to the services marked as adjusted by town. A bath system price is part materials, which cost the same anywhere, and part labor, which follows local wages. We treat 45 percent of the typical price as labor. The local range is the typical range times 55 percent plus 45 percent times the local index, then rounded to the nearest $100 below $10,000 and the nearest $500 above it. At the top index of 0.904 that multiplier is 0.957; at the lowest, 0.594, it is 0.817.

What does this index not tell you?

Wages are a 2023 annual average and change slowly, so the labor index is a guide to relative cost, not a price list. The index does not cover permits, which most like for like bath system installs do not need, or work outside the bath or shower. It also cannot see the condition of your floor and plumbing, which is why every quote starts with measurements taken in your home.
